How to raise your bed

One of the most common questions I get is, “How can i raise my bed?” Folks have lots of reasons to raise their beds. Some people want to raise their beds to create storage under their beds for sweaters, books, and gift wrap. Other people like the luxurious style of having a taller bed.

Lots of systems are available for raising your bed, but many of those systems are not very sturdy and some are even downright unsafe, expecially if used in a child’s room.
The cheap type of bed frame leg riser that looks like a plastic flower pot turned upside down is not a wise choice. I’ve heard from many customers how wobbly these are. I do not recommend these for anyone.

The best system we’ve ever seen in the industry is a deluxe model bed frame with risers. The bed frame itself is outstanding. The riser system locks in to the bed frame leg and raises the bed 10 inches. You won’t find a sturdier bed frame with risers anywhere.

If you want your bed taller than 10 inches, another stable system is the standard model bed frame with risers. The standard model bed frame with leg extenders has a little more flexibility than the deluxe model bed frame. You can choose 3 or 4 inch riser legs and you can choose wheels or bed frame feet.

I was wondering if you had any suggestions on how to raise a bed like 5 or 6 feet. I live on a military base in the dorms and there not the biggest. So I wanted to raise my bed like 5 to 6 feet so I could put a couch underneath it. Please help me out on this. Thanks!

Hi Kent- You are thinking about a “loft bed,” sort of like the kind of bed they use in college dorm rooms. One company that has really well-made products is University Loft. Look online for companies selling that brand. Very good construction and great designs. Good luck!
